I wonder if one could detect whether a woman or a man wrote a piece which otherwise gave no indication of the author’s sex?
Perhaps we might imagine a ‘flaming romance’ written from a female point of view might suggest a female writer. But could we be wrong?
If male and female readers bring different mindsets to a piece of writing, perhaps what is written might be interpreted entirely differently, even as if it was a different piece of writing, because of the mindset of the person reading it?
What do you think?
My intention in this New Year is to leave working at home behind and to work as an online author in as many beautiful UK locations as I can find to legally park my new (second hand) small motorhome.
Hopefully, working from my new motor home (second hand) in different daily rural locations each day around the West of England and elsewhere will also enable me to explore many new lunch time walks and I intend to record these in my new walking web-log
Read all about my first day writing in my motorhome parked in the beautiful UK West of England moorland.

Finding new sources of readers for authors stories is all part of the author holy grail.
I’ve been wanting to take a look at podcasting which seems to be growing in popularity everywhere. The good news is that it appears to be relatively straightforward. My first podcast short story is Three Christmas lovers which is on my new podcast short stories site.
I found the best way to podcast is to do it from a blog because podcasts are technically closely tied in to RSS feeds which are provided automatically in web logs. I use Wordpress weblog which has several special plugins to handle podcasts and makes it about as easy as it could be to podcast from a web-log.
Producing the podcast sound file (mp3) is just a matter of getting audio recorder software into your computer. Audacity is a free, cross platform sound editor and is available as a free download which will do the recording and the site also provides links to the Lame mp3 encoder that you will also need to convert the sound to mp3 format.
One word of caution, if you are an author wanting to get into podcasting. Make sure you have lots of bandwidth available from your web host. The Three Christmas Lovers short story podcast file is three megabytes in size against the text version of Three Christmas Lovers which is very much smaller.
Happy podcasting

Everyone has a story in them, even if it is the story of their own life.
But, to get your readers to read past the opening sentences, you’ll need to give them a lot of incentives to read more of your novel or short story.
Your reader must want to remember your name so they can return to read more of your short stories, novels or novellas later so your reputation will grow and you’ll ghet more readers. Your story must be truly satisfying.
The challenges are great but the rewards in personal satisfaction are enormous.
Here are some ideas to help you write the perfect story.
Welcome to my author web log. Here I will post my stories and articles about author related subjects, authors and authoring. I hope you will enjoy them.
If you are an author and have a blog, I would love to have a mention in your blog. I monitor (although not necessarily daily) all incoming references to my stories and articles and usually visit sites that mention me and look to helpfully comment on interesting sites somewhere on one of my sites as appropriate.
If you are here to just have a good read on the subject of authors, I hope you enjoy your stay and use the wonderful RSS Aggregator technology to keep up to date with new posts on this site.
If you are an avid social book marker, welcome friend
Graphical social book mark links are provided at the foot of each page for your selection and convenience.
Here is a comprehensive list of my fictional stories.
Thanks again for reading my stories and articles
